Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data Deepmode collects, why we collect it, and how we handle it. Our goal is simple: track your focus, not your life.
1. Who we are
Deepmode is a focus and productivity tool that helps you work in timed sessions and track your progress. For questions about this policy, email hi@deepmode.app.
2. Data we collect
We collect the minimum data needed to run the product:
- Account details: your email address and a hashed password
- Focus data: session times, tasks, projects, categories, notes, streaks, and completion stats
- Product usage: which features you use, error logs, and basic analytics for performance
- Billing data (Pro only): handled by Stripe, which may collect name, card details, and billing address
3. What the Chrome extension can see
The Deepmode extension needs to know which site you're on to block distraction sites. It may read the URL of your current tab for this purpose.
We do not capture screenshots, page contents, or keystrokes. We do not sell or share your browsing history.
4. How we use your data
We use your data to:
- Create and maintain your account
- Run focus sessions and show you accurate stats and streaks
- Send essential emails (verification, password reset, subscription updates)
- Improve Deepmode's performance and reliability
We may also send optional product updates or tips. You can unsubscribe from those anytime.
5. Cookies and local storage
We use cookies or local storage mainly for authentication and session management. You can clear these in your browser settings, but some features may stop working.
6. How we share data
We do not sell your data. We share it only with trusted processors who help us run Deepmode:
- Cloud hosting and database providers
- Email delivery services
- Payment processors (Stripe)
These providers are bound by contracts that limit how they can use your data.
7. Data retention
We keep your account and focus data for as long as your account is active so you can see historical stats and streaks. If you request deletion, we remove or anonymise your personal data where we are not required to keep it for legal, security, or accounting reasons.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g., EU or UK), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain types of processing.
To exercise these rights, email hi@deepmode.app. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and restricting access to production systems. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we design Deepmode with security in mind.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Deepmode evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in-app.
